Financial Education
We support financial education, because it helps people understand how to use and build up financial resources, and in the process, raises the quality of life for individuals, families and institutions, and strengthens communities around the world. Financial education is a natural extension of the work we do everyday and a major focus of our efforts to make a difference in the communities where we live and work.
Through our philanthropic arm, the Citigroup Foundation, we focus on three areas: Financial Education, Educating the Next Generation and Building Communities and Entrepreneurs.

The Adventures of Agent Penny
The Adventures of Agent Penny” comic book is the first-ever comic book designed to inculcate money values and promote financial literacy to upper primary school children. This is part of a holistic financial education campaign by Citibank, in partnership with the Learning Society, to provide a fun-filled experience for primary school children in Singapore to learn about the basics of money.
20,000 copies of "The Adventures of Agent Penny" comic book will be disseminated to upper primary school children over a one-year period. Local professional theatre group, The Necessary Stage, has been commissioned by the organisers to produce an interactive skit that will depict scenarios illustrating the importance of saving and budgeting. Students will be invited to watch and interact in the skit, which will be performed in schools, libraries and possibly, community centres.
There will also be a resource kit for teachers and Citibank volunteers, which will contain creative teaching tools, such as simple games and quizzes, exercises and activity plans, to further reinforce the financial know-how and money concepts contained in the comic book.
Foundations in Finance (FIF)
Citigroup’s flagship financial education in Singapore is Foundations in Finance (FIF) that promotes financial literacy among young people. FIF started in 2000 in partnership with the Learning Society and will have reached over 20,000 students by the end of 2004.
